Factor House was founded in 2019 by Derek and Kylie Troy-West, with Tom Crowley joining as founding engineer in 2020. After years spent building data platforms across banking, insurance and fintech, the founders saw a gap: Apache Kafka had no enterprise-grade tooling built for the engineers running it.
That gap became Kpow, a UI and API for Apache Kafka. Flex followed for Apache Flink, and today the Factor Platform brings streaming observability together across an organization's real-time data infrastructure.
